Rising electricity demand forecasts, generation growth, and the increasing pace of change in the resources are key factors to the summer risk profile. The NERC Summer Reliability Assessment evaluates generation resources and transmission system adequacy for the upcoming summer. The SRA identifies, assesses, and reports on areas of concern regarding the reliability of the North American bulk power system (BPS) for the upcoming summer season. In addition, the SRA presents peak electricity demand and supply changes and highlights any unique regional challenges or expected conditions that might affect the reliability of the BPS. The reliability assessment process is a coordinated evaluation between the NERC Reliability Assessment Subcommittee, the Regional Entities, and NERC staff with demand and resource projections obtained from the assessment areas.
