Employee Spotlight – July 2016

Alfred Busbee

PROJECT MANAGER | MARIETTA, GA

Alfred Busbee started at GDS in the Marietta office of the Rates and Regulatory department in August of 2015. Prior to joining GDS, Alfred was already a familiar name to many of us through his employment at the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). SPP is a Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) that has a footprint that extends from Texas to North Dakota which many of GDS’ clients are members. At SPP, Alfred worked in the Federal Regulatory Policy Group where he reviewed draft filings and testimony of transmission owners for compliance with the FERC policy and the SPP Tariff. Alfred brings over 30 years of regulated utility experience that includes regulatory and government affairs in both telecom and the bulk electric system. As a native of Georgia, he wanted to move back where he and his wife Leah grew up and attended college. Alfred has family in Atlanta and wanted to get closer to home. SPP’s loss was GDS’ gain as the R&R GA and Power Supply Departments both interact with SPP often and often rely upon his RTO expertise. Alfred brings a unique understanding of the SPP transmission tariff and policies that provides a valuable asset to GDS clients navigating life as a transmission owner the SPP and other RTOs.

HIDE
Over the past year, Alfred has worked as our East Texas Coops representative on the SPP Regional Tariff Working Group and the MISO Regional Expansion Criteria and Benefits Group. He assists our cooperative and municipal clients on becoming RTO members, and assisted our Arkansas clients with formula rate updates and rate filings at FERC. He works on all things Transmission in our group.
Alfred was one of those lucky “finds” who really found us last year and inquired about joining rather than us finding him.
