Jason Settle

Senior Project Manger | Hi-Line Engineering | Auburn, AL

 

The Employee Spotlight for October 2020 is Jason Settle.  Jason started with Hi-Line Engineering in February 2013 as a Project Manager. His current responsibilities include preparing many types of engineering studies such as Construction Work Plans, Power Factor Correction and Sectionalizing for electric utilities. In addition, he performs work order inspections for multiple clients in 5 different states. Jason is also one of Hi-Line’s trainers.  He teaches classes such as NESC, Line Design, Transformer Banking, and Basics of Electricity in multiple states to all types of utility personnel including Field Technicians, Lineman, office personnel and engineers.

Prior to joining GDS, Jason spent 17 years at Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Alabama as a System Engineer (7 years) and V.P. of Engineering and Operations (10 years). In 1995, he graduated from Southern College of Technology with a double major in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) and Math. Jason is currently a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, and Virginia.

 

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?

Spending time with family, camping, fishing and kayaking.

What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on?

Any vacation with family is the best.

Any career lessons you have learned thus far?

Always share what you know with others. Pass it on.

What is on your bucket list?

To retire one day.

Fun fact about yourself.

I am currently living in Georgia for the third time in my life.

What is your favorite meal?

I love good home cooking and seafood.

Tell us about your family/friends. 

My wife Robin and I just had our 28th wedding anniversary. We have 2 great kids; our daughter Maren (HS Junior) turned 16 in August and is now driving our son Gavin (HS Freshman) is 14. Maren is dancer and is also working at the dance studio where she takes classes. Gavin plays baseball and we spend a lot of weekends watching him play. We enjoy spending time at our place in Alabama visiting family and spending time outdoors.
